Belfast is a small community, situated in the south eastern corner of Prince Edward Island. As well, Belfast can be reached traveling on Highway 1, near the shores of the Northumberland Strait. Belfast became incorporated in 1972. The first settlers to Belfast arrived in 1803, and were of Scottish origin. Of those early settlers, farming was their main source of stability. Today, Belfast is still known for its agriculture industry as well as a woollen mill and various small businesses. Belfast is 37.7 km (23.4 mi.) southeast of Charlottetown.

Belfast is positioned near the south shore, which is where PEI's oldest lighthouse can be found, which was built in 1845. Belfast is home to the Belfast Highland Greens golf course, a beautiful nine-hole course in the midst of a lush, vibrant landscape and coastline. The Lord Selkirk Provincial Park is a part of the Orwell Bay shoreline and includes a beach, golfing, swimming and much more. As well, Belfast is next to a Flea Market, filled with a large variation of items.
