Murray River is one of the southern most communities in all Prince Edward Island, located on the south eastern tip of the province. Murray River is a member of Kings County, officially incorporated as a village in 1955. The town name is taken from a river of the same name that runs through the community. After initial settlement, a bridge, a wharf and dams were constructed here. Farming is a key industry here. Murray River is an approximate driving distance of 63.4 km (39.4 mi.) southeast of Prince Edward Islands' capital city,
Charlottetown.
The Kings Castle Provincial Park is located just outside Murray River, and features a beautiful beach and spectacular views. As well, pets are allowed at the beach. The Eagles View golf course is a nine-hole gem, situated in Murray River. Murray River is home to various types of tours, including airplane tours and boat tours. Seal watching and bird watching is also available. Fine dining and antique and souvenir shopping is also offered in the beautiful community of Murray River.
