St. Peters Harbour is noted as the gateway to St. Peters Bay and is situated on the island's north eastern shores. As well, St. Peters Harbour is an unincorporated community, as part of Kings County. St. Peters Harbour is a storied community, known for being the first French settlement in Prince Edward Island, as well as the first place to construct roads on the province.

It has been speculated that an Acadian Church in St. Peters Harbour was burned down in 1758 by the Acadians after word was received that the English had arrived. A century later, a church bell was found in a farmer's field. St. Peters Harbour was once a place of shipbuilding and today is primarily a fishing community.
