Point Prim can be reached on the south eastern shore of Prince Edward Island, on the northern shores of the Northumberland Strait. Point Prim is also a member of Queens County and is an unincorporated community. Point Prim takes its name from a ship that carried over the initial Scottish settlers of the community. As well, Point Prim is mostly a fishing and tourism community, and is also situated a total driving distance of 44.7 km (27.8 mi.) southeast of Charlottetown.

Point Prim is proud to have the oldest lighthouse in all Prince Edward Island; the Point Prim Lighthouse was built in 1845 by Isaac Smith. While experiencing the splendour and history of the lighthouse, be sure to head to the beach, go for a swim and take in the ocean air, the pretty coastline and the ocean views. Point Prim is also home to restaurants that offer delicious fine-dining. Point Prim also offers guided tours of the area, gift shops and art galleries.

Point Prim accommodations include beautiful seaside cottages and vacation homes.
