Mount Stewart can be found near the northern shores of Prince Edward Island, on the north end of Highway 22 (Mount Stewart Rd.). As well, Mount Stewart is a member of Queens County, along the Hillsborough River, which dwindles down to a narrow stream once it passes the community. The southern portion of the river actually becomes the Charlottetown Harbour. Mount Stewart saw the Prince Edward Island Railway run through its community in 1872, which vastly improved the local economy. Mount Stewart is positioned 27.9 km (17.3 mi.) northeast of Charlottetown.
Mount Stewart is home to the O'Callaghan Art Gallery, featuring Irish Celtic pieces and various other local artists. Mount Stewart also features a beautiful beaches and golf courses, walking trails, canoeing, kayaking and lots of scenic views of the surrounding area.
