Adventures on the Water in PEI
From sailing to to fishing to paddling to kiteboarding, the waters off Prince Edward Island offer many choices.
Montague is located in Kings County, on the eastern coast of Prince Edward Island. With a large surrounding rural population of twenty thousand people, Montague is the main city with all the shopping. There has been considerable development in Montague in recent years, with Montague now seeing more recognizable stores, yet still having a collection of independent businesses. More noticeable developments include a new bridge in 2007, a suburban uplift of Main Street, and an extensive remodelling of Montague's waterfront.
There are many scenic areas in Montague. Montague has the Heritage Montague River running right through its city centre, cutting Montague in half, east to west. Visitors enjoy camping, fishing, hiking trails, sea kayaking and canoeing, horseback riding, and golfing when they come to Montague. For more relaxing outdoor activities Montague has seaplane air tours, seal watching boating trips and the Harvey Moore Waterfowl Park, a great place for bird watching, as the park is a haven for migrating birds in Canada.
There are many culture and historic places to visit in Montague as well, with The Kings Playhouse, which features live theatre productions in the summer time and the Garden of the Gulf Museum, which just happens to be PEI's oldest museum. As for festivals, Montague celebrates its own birthday every year with a weekend long festival in early July called Montague Summer Days. The celebration includes a parade, Soap Box Derbies, vendors, concerts, food and fireworks. Montague is 46 km (28.5 mi.) from Charlottetown.
