Breadalbane, named after a community in Scotland, belongs to Queens County. This small community was incorporated in 1991 and first settled in 1858. As well, Breadalbane is centrally positioned on the island, just south of Highway 2. A hydro-electric dam was constructed in Breadalbane, sited as one of the first of its kind in the province. Breadalbane is also a stop on the trans-provincial railway that runs from Summerside to Charlottetown. Breadalbane is a total driving distance of just 30.1 km (18.7 mi.) southeast of Summerside.
