Ellerslie is a small community, positioned in the northwest portion of Prince Edward Island. Ellerslie is also a member of Prince County. Incorporated in 1977, Ellerslie was first formed in 1901 and named in honour of a community of the same name in Scotland. Ellerslie is known to some as Ellerslie-Bideford, as Bideford did merge with Ellerslie sometime in 1977. Past industries in Ellerslie included shipbuilding and fox farming. Today, fishing is the key industry. Ellerslie is about 37.5 km (23.3 mi.) northwest of Summerside.

Ellerslie is the proud home of the Ellerslie Shellfish Museum, which delves into the history of shellfishing in and around the Ellerslie area, and also includes displays, aquariums, various types of fish and other sea animals, information on different species and available fish for sale. As well, visit the Bideford Parsonage Museum, which takes a look back at life in the 1800s. The museum itself is a beautiful Victorian heritage building. L.M. Montgomery actually stayed in this house when she was only 19.

Ellerslie accommodations include bed and breakfasts.
