Borden-Carleton, a member of Prince County, is the first thing that travelers headed to Prince Edward Island on the Confederation Bridge see when they arrive. Borden-Carleton is three previously separate communities (Borden, Carleton Siding and Carleton) conjoined to create one, which occurred in 1995 after an amalgamation. Originally, Borden was known as Carleton Point, but whatever the name, this community has always been considered the doorway to Canada's mainland, as a ferry service did exist in 1914 and onward. The provincial capital,
Charlottetown, is a driving distance of 43.6 km (27.1 mi.) east of Borden-Carleton.
Borden-Carleton is not simply advantageously positioned at the entrance to Prince Edward Island; Borden-Carleton is home to a car museum, the bridge girder, a trio of beautiful lighthouses and the Anne Statue, which commemorates the late, great L.M. Montgomery for her work as author of Anne of Green Gables. Borden-Carleton is home to a large number of appetizing restaurants, including a ferry boat replica restaurant, serving local seafood and much more. Numerous shops in Borden-Carleton offer visitors all the amenities you could ask for, including a shopping mall, souvenir and gift shops and arts and crafts stores. Borden-Carleton is a scenic little community with plenty to offer.
Borden-Carleton accommodations include bed and breakfasts, motels and hotels.
